Ding Dong Ditch is a classic childhood game. I must admit I played it once or twice as a kid, and part of the thrill was hoping not to get caught and scolded by the adults involved. Honestly, I loved it. However, as an adult, the story changes dramatically. Every vacation season, kids go around ringing bells and hiding. Now, what I thought was once fun has become very annoying. Hearing the doorbell over and over again, while you're trying to relax at home, can really drive anyone to desperation. The tables have truly turned with this one.
Because we all did it as kids, or at least a majority of us, we can see a kid's perspective when the Ding Dong Ditch season is back in session. That said, being victims of the game, we can understand how mean and disturbing it can be. It really makes us realize that we used to be inconsiderate and selfish as children, when we failed to take into account other people's well-being and comfort. The universe has taught us the lesson. Because each generation is supposed to be better, we are now in charge of teaching our own kids this valuable understanding: no fun or activity should ever sacrifice other people's peace. You must always be considerate towards others.
This 22-year-old woman is experiencing this lesson in the flesh, as she decided to report some neighborhood kids who kept insisting on banging on her door and running away. She feels a little bad, as she also remembers her own actions as a kid, but she has reached her limit, patience-wise. Also, she hasn't been able to talk to the parents of these kids, as they are "apparently nowhere to be seen". The only route she saw was to call law enforcement on them, hoping it would teach them to respect others.
People agree that kids should be able to have fun outside and play with friends. It's a core memory of everyone's childhood. However, they also agree that the situation is getting out of hand, as many share similar stories. That's why most of them encourage her to take a little creative revenge. What would you suggest?
