At first glance, the ascendent Democratic Socialists of America — AKA Bernie Sanders’ Kids — would appear to be student politicians run amok.

Diehards are exquisitely woke, wealthy and white but despite their many absurd pronouncements and passions, the sub sect of the traditional Democratic Party are now its kingmakers.

Embracing wacko policies such as defunding the cops, abolishing prisons, open borders all mixed with a near-fanatical devotion to the Palestinian cause, their moment appears to be now.

Party co-chair Megan Romer is a good example. She is one of the party’s leading intellectual lights but didn’t know what the Camp David Accords were. They also admire some of history’s most bloodthirsty dictators, like Chairman Mao, Joseph Stalin and Ayatollah Khomeini.

Cuban repression? A-OK!

“It is led by unpractical extremists whose views are a far cry from those that its electorally successful figures, such as Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, espouse,” wrote Arash Azizi in The Atlantic.

Democratic Party at war; DSA at war

How nutty? One wing of the party refused to support AOC because she wasn’t sufficiently anti-Israel. AOC!

But on Tuesday, DSA members were elected from the east coast to California (they are very coastal) albeit in heavily Democratic districts.

ZOHRAN MAMDAMI

411: New York City mayor and the DSA project’s biggest electoral success. Some inside the DSA are disappointed because the Hamas-loving pol has discovered that actually running government is a whole different ballgame requiring compromise — and common sense.

REP. ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ

411: The 37-year-old Bernie babe was first elected to congress in 2019. The former bartender and community organizer now seems, well, moderate, in comparison to some of the DSA’s more fanatical comrades.

REP. ILHAN OMAR

411: The Somali immigrant and representative from Minneapolis was one of the stalwarts of the so-called Squad. In the past she has expressed pro-Hamas views and hinted that her first loyalty is to her home country. In addition, the billion-dollar “learing” centre scandal has been linked to Omar and the feds are investigating her marriage and immigration to the U.S.

REP. RASHIDA TLAIB

411: The keffiyeh-clad Michigan pol is the first Palestinian-American woman elected to congress. A harsh critic of Israel she was censured by the House for promoting false narratives regarding the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas terror attack. The backlash was created by the old chestnut, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

DARIALIZA AVILA-CHEVALIER

411: The subject of a New York Post front page with the headline “Wack to the Future.” Mamdani isn’t out there enough for Chevalier who wants to abolish the police, prisons, ICE and wants illegal immigrants to receive free legal representation. Hates Israel and wants to eliminate aid.

REP. ABER KAWAS (GAZA DISTRICT)

411: A taste? The Palestinian-American said 9/11 was an action carried out by a “couple people”; criticized traditional American holidays; expresses solidarity with terrorists; fraudster dad booted, she cited, cough, Islamophobia; NBA champion New York Knicks sent Kawas a “cease and desist” order over a campaign ad of her wearing the team’s jersey.

CLAIRE VALDEZ

411: New York state lawmaker. Pals with a Twitch streamer who called Jews a “demonic ethnicity”; “tone-deaf” remarks on the Fourth of July brightening everyone’s holiday with claims “the system is rigged and our planet poisoned by billionaires, bosses, and war profiteers.” True freedom? Socialism! Wants to eliminate TSA pre-boarding check, abolish ICE, end deportations, dismantle borders and cut military aid to Israel. Moderate Democrats lambasted her.

MAYOR NITHYA RAMAN

411: Newly-minted mayor of Los Angeles is waaaay out there and a hypocrite to boot. Likes homeless encampments but not in her posh hood. Hates cops. Hates ICE. Loves illegal immigrants. During the campaign one of her flunkies (an influencer, har, har) targeted the police chief and her rival with the phrase “only you can stop fascist liars.”

MELAT KIROS

411: Israel? Boo! Campaigned for Gaza and could not bring herself to call a terrorist attack on a Jewish centre a hate crime until the terrorist himself said, “yeah, it was a hate crime.” The lawyer turned doctoral student captured Colorado’s 1st Congressional District. But wait! Was fired from law firm over her Palestinian obsession.

ABDUL EL-SAYED

411: El-Sayed won a bitter contest to become the junior senator from Michigan. Called an extremist by President Donald Trump. Denies support for terrorist sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood; outside group supporting him aired an outrageous ad claiming folks couldn’t afford eggs because their tax dollars were being used to “kill Palestinians.” Also a bro with rich kid Twitch streamer Hassan Piker who compared Zionists to Nazis. Democratic rival Haley Stevens ditched him.

411: Oh, dear. Claimed in an Instagram post the mass Hanukkah shooting that claimed the lives of 15 people (all Jews) at Bondi Beach in Australia was a “false flag” operation carried out by … Zionists! He blamed a former staffer; widely condemned for voting against anti-human trafficking bills. And then there’s his association with our old pal, Hasan Piker. Posted a defense of the creepy Twitcher. Former campaign manager made more than $160,000 in unauthorized withdrawals

ANGELA GONZALES-TORRES

411: Community council board described the native Californian’s tenure as “chaotic” and she would not compromise. Put up a Gaza motion (NATCH!); targeted political rival with abuse claims, later referring to him as a”very Zionist gentrifier man, a white man” and labeling him a “threat to my community”.
