Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has been appointed as the special adviser on political affairs of PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a group mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

Speaking during a visit to the movement’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, Obasanjo described his appointment as an honour and a privilege.

He commended the movement for its outreach across communities, efforts to improve lives and promotion of the government’s activities.

Obasanjo  said he had followed the movement’s activities for some time and was impressed by its work.

The former president’s son said he was ready to contribute to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

According to him, the president had started on a good note, making it necessary for Nigerians, particularly young people, to support the ongoing reforms and ensure continuity in governance.

He said the country had made progress in areas including salary payments, infrastructure development and investment opportunities.

He added that continued support for the president would enable his administration to build on its achievements and deliver more for Nigerians.

Obasanjo said he had been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2014, explaining that his family allowed its members to hold independent political views and pursue their political interests without animosity.

Sunday Abutu, national coordinator of the movement, described Obasanjo as an experienced political figure with a strong background in leadership and governance.

He said Obasanjo’s experience and understanding of political mobilisation would strengthen the movement and advance its activities across the country.

Abutu said the organisation was pleased to receive Obasanjo.
