Octavia Spencer gets candid about the cancellation of her new James Bond-esque TV show, in which she starred alongside Hannah Waddingham. After it was recently confirmed that her hit comedy TV series was being canceled, she took to social media to address the matter.
Alongside a headline about the cancellation of the show Ride or Die, Spence wrote on Instagram, “I hope every creative out there gets to have the incredible experience that I’ve had bringing this project to life with the unwavering support from Skydance/Paramount these past three years.”
She then went on to thank those behind Ride or Die by name, including creator Tessa Coates and executive producers Matt Thunnell, Dana Goldberg, and Barbara Muschietti. Spencer was also an executive producer on the series.
“Projects like this shouldn’t be the exception, they should be rule! For all the women out there who felt seen, laughed out loud, lived out loud with Debbie and Judith, thank you,” the 56-year-old wrote of her and Waddingham’s characters. “This was a fun one!”

Spencer’s comments come after Deadline reported that Prime Video has opted not to renew Ride Or Die for a second season. Paramount Television Studios, the lead studio behind the action-adventure comedy, is reportedly shopping the TV series to other buyers.
What is Octavia Spencer’s Ride or Die TV show about?Ride or Die is about two lifelong best friends, Debbie Claybourne (played by Spencer) and Judith Burton (played by Waddingham), whose lives are upended when one discovers the other is secretly an international assassin.
While Debbie leads an ordinary life as the American wife of a British politician, she believes that her close friend, Judith Burton, has a mundane job. However, Judith is actually a highly trained, elite international assassin. When one of her assignments goes disastrously wrong, the truth comes out.
Ultimately, the two women are forced to go on the run together on a high-stakes, action-packed road trip across Europe while evading law enforcement, rival assassins, and other dangerous criminals.
