Peter Dinklage‘s recent comedy movie becomes available on digital streaming today, September 22, 2026. The movie originally came out in theaters on August 28.
Idiots gets its digital release todayThe 2026 comedy movie Idiots debuts in Digital HD form on Prime Video and iTunes today. The movie’s DVD and Blu-ray release date has not been announced yet (via DVDs Release Dates).
In the movie, Dinklage portrays Karl “Koko” Sandoz. Other cast members include Dave Franco as Mark Southard, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Davis Hench, Mason Thames as Sheridan Kimberley, and Kiernan Shipka as Irina Asantas. Its logline reads, “When two unqualified bozos are hired to transfer a rich teen to rehab, their straightforward gig quickly spirals into dangerous mayhem.”
Macon Blair, whose previous credits include I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, wrote and directed Idiots from a story he developed with Alex Orr. Blair and Franco were among the movie’s producers. Notably, Blair has also directed The Toxic Avenger, in which Dinklage portrayed the titular character.
Idiots had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2026. At the time, it was titled The Shitheads (via The Hollywood Reporter). The movie later adopted the current title and debuted in US theaters on August 28. According to Box Office Mojo, Idiots has made a little over $1.1 million globally.
In contrast, Idiots has received mostly positive reviews from professional critics. It currently has an approval rating of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. Dennis Harvey of 48 Hills gave the movie a positive review, writing, “Blair occasionally flirts with content almost too ‘dark’ to be comedic. Yet this collision between The Last Detail and Smiley Face always manages to stop just short of wiping that smile off your face. A high tolerance for ‘bad taste’ is required for a movie that is definitely not for everyone. But I’ll admit, I howled out loud more than once.”
