The Plateau State Commissioner for Transportation, Davou Jatau, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to desist from anti-party activities, warning that such actions could weaken the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a familiarisation visit to APC wards and districts in Jos South Local Government Area on Monday, Jatau urged members to rally behind the policies of both President Bola Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang, citing what he described as visible achievements in governance.
He stressed the importance of resolving grievances through party structures, noting: “Grievances should be channelled properly. The doors of the party are open for dialogue. But no one should work against the party and expect to remain a bona fide member.”
Highlighting reforms by the Tinubu administration, Jatau pointed to efforts in repositioning the economy, improving security, and restoring investor confidence.
He also praised Governor Mutfwang’s focus on peace-building, infrastructure, healthcare, and inclusive governance, particularly investments in transportation that have eased economic burdens on residents.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the commissioner emphasised unity as the APC’s greatest strength.
“The campaign has not started yet, but we think it is very important to familiarise ourselves with the wards and districts first. When the campaign begins, we want you to vote for every candidate of the APC from top to bottom,” he said.
Stakeholders at the meeting pledged to reconcile aggrieved members and embark on an aggressive membership drive across Jos South LGA to strengthen the party’s base.
