Porsche has cooked up another special 911, one that you might say takes the sports car icon to new heights. Called the GT3 Bergsport, it’s a 100-car celebration of Alpine roads, hill climbs and Porsche’s earliest history. There’s just one problem for American enthusiasts. You can’t have one.
That’s because Porsche is restricting the Bergsport to Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. Based on the current 911 GT3 Touring and created by Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur personalization division, it tries to capture the spirit of driving a great car on some of the world’s most exciting and scenic routes.

The star attraction – well, apart from the GT3’s stock 502 hp (510 PS) 4.0-liter flat-six and a manual transmission – is Valleygreenmetallic, a new Paint to Sample Plus color developed specifically for the Bergsport. Its deep green shade contains gold metallic particles intended to evoke Alpine scenery and sunlight on fresh snow. The Lightweight Package is standard, although Porsche swaps its usual magnesium wheels for tougher forged aluminum items better suited to occasionally rough mountain roads.
Those wheels mix White Gold and Ceramica finishes, and through the spokes you might just catch a glimpse of orange brake calipers inspired by alpenglow, that reddish tinge you see on mountains before sunrise or after sunset.
Big Tank And Back Seats
There are tinted HD-Matrix LED headlights, a 908 Bergspyder-inspired checkered-flag graphic on the hood, and special badges. The engine-cover emblem depicts four Alpine peaks, one for each country getting the car, plus a winding road. Hey Porsche, you know America has mountains, too.
To make sure you can play in the hills all day, the Bergsport gets the optional 90-liter (23.8 US gallons) tank, while other welcome goodies include a front-axle lift system and folding carbon-fiber bucket seats trimmed in bespoke Valleygreen leather. Unlike some hardcore GT3 configurations, though, this one comes with rear seats.
Orange accents appear on the stitching, starter switch, accelerator pedal, steering wheel and manual shifter. They’re complemented by more muted black and white cross-stitching across the doors and dashboard, which forms stylized mountain peaks, while even the key, pouch and document wallet receive Bergsport-specific treatment.
Matching Clothes And Skis
The GT3 Bergsport will make its public debut September 3 at Switzerland’s Arosa ClassicCar hill climb, where Porsche ambassador Jörg Bergmeister will tackle the 4.5-mile (7.3 km) course and its 76 corners. Porsche’s even making matching model cars, clothing, mugs and skis, because some Porsche fans just don’t know where to stop.
Porsche’s announcement doesn’t list pricing for the 100 fortunate European buyers, but those Exclusiv details are sure to add plenty to the standard Touring’s €211,200 list price. For Americans, then, the Bergsport could be another reminder that sometimes the grass really is Valleygreenmetallic on the other side, though maybe it’s just a different kind of green in the US.
