Ram’s Latest Special Edition Serves An Overlooked Segment

• Ram has introduced the 2027 Chassis Cab, which gains a new blackout package.
• Night Edition adds black wheels and badging as well as body-color components.
• Truck arrives later this year and will be offered in Big Horn and Laramie guise.

In an ironic twist of fate, the people whose livelihoods depend on their vehicle are often overlooked when it comes to fun packages and special editions. As a result, commercial vehicles largely stay the same, while Jeep is rolling out a new special edition Wrangler every month.

Ram doesn’t think that’s fair so they’re bringing a new Night Edition Package to the 3500, 4500, and 5500 Chassis Cab pickups. It combines a dark sense of style with an “upfitter-friendly design.”

Set to debut at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa, the Chassis Cab Night Edition has a number of body-color components including the front bumper, grille surround, fender flares, and door handles. They’re accompanied by a Sport Performance hood, which gives the truck a more menacing appearance.

As the name suggests, the Night Edition embraces the dark side as the package also includes a blacked out inner grille. It’s joined by black badging and black wheels.

The package will cost $2,195 on Big Horn models with the Level 1 or Level 2 Equipment Group, and $1,695 on Laramie variants. Orders open in the fourth quarter and the truck should arrive later this year.

Customers can choose between two engines including a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 developing 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque. It’s joined by a 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel inline-six with 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 800 lb-ft (1,083 Nm) of torque.
