The long-running mystery around Anna Merrick’s USB flash drive finally gets a partial answer in Reacher Season 4, Episode 5, but the discovery raises another question. Reacher and his allies uncover an image connecting Congressman Sampson and Cahill to General Putra, with an unidentified scientist appearing in the background.
What’s on the flash drive in Reacher Season 4?Once Reacher gets out of police custody, the mystery takes another sharp turn. He starts thinking Anna may have placed her trust in her brother Jacob, who later joins Tamara Green and Russell Plum in recovering the device. But when they finally crack it open, there’s no smoking-gun dossier waiting inside, just one photograph.
That lone image only creates more questions. Reacher turns to Sampson and asks about the unidentified man standing behind the officials. The congressman claims he’s a scientist who worked on malaria research in Indonesia, but the answer hardly passes the smell test for Reacher. After all the season’s breadcrumbs connecting politicians, General Putra, and the Hoth sisters, one mystery photo isn’t enough to make everything add up.
The latest episode also throws Reacher into hot water again!!. After officers find him at the scene of Lila Hoth’s bloody hotel-room massacre, they assume he’s involved and take him into custody. Naturally, Reacher breaks free, finds Tamara, and holes up long enough for them to go through Anna’s phone and the mysterious drive. Soon, the investigation branches off, sending Jacob and Plum after the unidentified man while Reacher and Tamara chase a separate clue.
Their search leads to a deserted restaurant with a connection to Anna’s past. Piecing together the evidence, Reacher realizes the culprits tortured and murdered Ben there. Then the stakes go through the roof when Lila and Amisha show up with Jacob captured.
Season 4 draws from Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow, but Episode 5 isn’t ready to hand Reacher all the answers just yet. With three episodes still to go before the September 16 finale, Reacher still needs to crack the mystery behind the scientist, figure out why that photograph matters, and uncover what made Anna’s ordinary-looking drive worth killing for.
