This 1990 BMW 325is coupe has been modified for track use with an 3.2L S52 inline-six installed in 2016 and linked with a ZF five-speed manual transmission and an E28 3.25:1 limited-slip differential. Dubbed “Project Varmit”, the car has also been fitted with a five-lug conversion, Ground Control coilovers, upgraded brakes, 17″ Kosei K1 wheels, and a welded roll cage. The current owner purchased the car in 2016 and has added approximately 6k miles since, using the car for ~three HPDE schools each year. This E30 is now offered by the seller on behalf of its owner with service records, spare parts, a car cover, and an Indiana title.

The two-door body is finished in Black (086), and the car was resprayed by a previous owner. The seller reports dings and scratches commensurate with age, along with track-related wear to the front. The battery box area was repaired for rust in 2019. There is corrosion and damage at the lower door corners, the lower areas of the rear quarters, the passenger-side glass area, and the trunk lid near the emblem. Clear coat has peeled in several small areas following removal of a vinyl wrap. A scratch is note on the left-rear quarter and another on the left-front fender, while a left-side window seal is damaged.

The 17″ Kosei K1 wheels are mounted with 235/45R17 Hankook Ventus R-S4 tires, and a spare set of K1 wheels with 235/40R17 Toyo RR tires that require replacement is included. The car has undergone a five-lug conversion using E36 M3 front hubs and brakes and Z4 rear hubs with E46 325i rear brake carriers and E36 M3/E46-style calipers. Braking is upgraded with a Porsche 944 brake booster and master cylinder and brake ducts, and Ground Control coilovers have been installed. The front wheels rub at full steering lock.

The cabin features OMP full-containment and passenger bucket seats mounted on sliders, Impact five-point harnesses, custom door panels and pulls, and a TIG-welded roll cage fabricated by Mark “The Roll Cage Guy” in Akron, Ohio. The main cage bars are padded. Power windows, a dash-mounted clock, and a heater are retained, while the air-conditioning system has been removed. The dashboard is cracked in several places, and the sunroof has been removed and replaced with a sealed metal panel.

A MOMO steering wheel with a quick-release hub fronts factory instrumentation supplemented by gauges for air-fuel ratio, oil pressure, oil temperature, and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 237k  miles, approximately 6k of which were added under current ownership.

The OBD-II 3.2L S52 inline-six was installed in 2016 with approximately 55,000 miles, according to the seller. The engine is equipped with a 540i mass-airflow sensor, a baffled oil pan, a cold-air intake box, and an oil cooler. The oil-pump nut has been Loctited and safety-wired. Recent service included an oil and filter change in March 2026, a water pump in November 2024, a fuel pump in May 2024, and a battery in September 2024.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission and an E28 3.25:1 limited-slip differential. A lightweight flywheel is fitted, and the transmission and differential fluids were serviced in April 2019.
