Sadie Sink may have found her next project following her MCU stardom. The 24-year-old actress is in talks to star in a new A24 movie adaptation.

According to Deadline, A24 and Square Peg are working to acquire the rights to Emma Cline’s bestselling novel, The Guest. Sink is being eyed to lead its feature film adaptation, with Lorene Scafaria in talks to write and direct.

The outlet cited insider sources who said about 12 other buyers were also in the auction. The Sink-Scafaria package from A24 and Square Peg ultimately won out. However, the deal has not been officially closed yet.

Sink rose to fame, playing Max Mayfield in Netflix’s sci-fi horror hit Stranger Things. She recently made her MCU debut as Jean Grey in the 2026 box office phenomenon Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Meanwhile, Scafaria previously directed Hustlers, The Meddler, and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. She has also directed several episodes of acclaimed television shows like Succession and New Girl.

What to know about Emma Cline’s bestselling novel The Guest

Published in 2023, Emma Cline’s The Guest takes place over five summer days. The story follows Alex, a 22-year-old professional escort from New York City. During her brief visit to the Hamptons of Long Island, she navigates the wealthy enclaves, exploring a world where she can never truly belong.

The Guest received widespread critical acclaim and quickly became a national bestseller. Esquire magazine described the novel as “dreamlike and disaffected,” adding, “this charged study of class and gender lingers like a bad sunburn.”

The New York Times wrote, “… under Cline’s command, every sentence as sharp as a scalpel, a woman toeing the line between welcome and unwelcome guest becomes a fully destabilizing force.”

The Guest was also longlisted for the 2024 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Cline’s other novels include The Girls and Switzy.
