As all "I'm not a cat person" people eventually do, even when I am working from home I have a purring co-worker perched on my lap at all times.

Whenever I sit or lie down somewhere in my home, my cat will find her way right onto my lap, my belly, or literally my face to plop herself down on and purr like it's the comfiest throne fit for a princess. But it's especially true on days when I'm working from home. Because it's not just me and my cat resting together - on days like these, it's my cat finding me as the best, most comfortable place, while I'm hard at work. Even when I write these very lines, I have this princess purring on my lap, her head on my right arm - which makes it especially difficult to type quickly. But my cat doesn't mind one bit.

And that's exactly what happened (and still happens, presumably) to this one woman who works from home. The difference is that she brought a kitten home because her daughter is the cat person who really wanted to adopt a feline friend into the family. For me, it was different because I was the one adopting my own cat. But just as I didn't know I could be a cat person who adores her WFH shadow (literally, because my cat is black), so did she. The kitten she brought home might have initially been her daughter's cat, but… cats just do what they want, I guess. They choose their people, not the other way around.

One other thing that is similar between my situation and that of this former-not-a-cat-person woman, is that we both feel we have two daughters - a human one and a feline one. But I guess the other difference is that while Mochi the cat clearly loves both the mom and the daughter - my own cat is still afraid of my child… but she's too young, still. I know it'll change in the future.
