Answering the call of a stray cat for food is something that many of us cat lovers do on a regular basis. Whether it is feeding cats we come across in the street or feeding our 'regulars' at home, it is not necessarily such a special or unique event. But when this lady stepped out to meet the cat crying on her back porch she was rather surprised to come to find that it not only sought food and attention, but was in need of a home. A big ask and one that was greeted with open arms. But when they discover this kitty's origin story it really hits home just how much this cat needed a home.

The Cat Distribution System really has a funny way of working. Often we praise it for being prompt, on time and excellent with its decision making. But in this case we are a little disappointed in it. The cat that has turned up on this person's porch had been out in the cold for a long time. Something that was obvious just by looking at her. Now, we might give the CDS a little credit and assume that perhaps it tried to place her in a few homes and it just did not work out, or perhaps she was hesitant to be placed somewhere. But if there truly is such a benevolent system in place, we are left wondering how it lets a cat slip through the cracks like this.
