The local Ford Everest lineup has just been revamped, as a new turbodiesel V6 engine now rules the roster. At the same time, Ford Philippines has revived the Wildtrak configuration, while also introducing a fresh entry-level Active variant.

But which SUV gets the punchy V6? That goes to the shiny Everest Platinum, which effectively replaces the Titanium at the top of the stable. It is out with the old and in with the new, as the Trend and Sport trims could be on their way out as well.

Each Everest variant stands with a distinct impression, marked by varying accessories, garnishes, and signature colors. However, all configurations measure the same: 4,914mm in length, 1,923mm in width, and 1,842mm in height. Wheelbase is also standard at 2,900mm.

While ground clearance is also similar across the board at 227mm, wheel and tire sizes do vary. The top-spec Everest Platinum gets 21-inch alloys shod in 275/45 R21 tires, while the Wildtrak and Sport+ share 20-inch rollers wrapped with 255/55 R20 rubber. Finally, the base Active is equipped with smaller 18-inch wheels and 255/65 R18 tires.

On the fascia, the Everest Wildtrak gets its signature H-bar on the bumper, while the other variants get body-color matching finishes. Across the lineup, LED DRLs are standard, but the Platinum and Wildtrak get matrix LED headlights, while the other two variants get LED multi-reflector lamps up front. Around back, the Active gets standard LED tailights, while the rest get a little extra flavor with a different design.

Finally, front and rear tow hooks come standard, but only the Platinum and Wildtrak variants get roof rails and side steps.

All Everest models continue to be seven-seater people haulers, but as expected, the interior finishes vary across all variants. The fully loaded Everest gets quilted leather with Platinum badging, while the Wildtrak also gets leather and its own logos on the seats. The latter two variants then just get standard leather upholstery.

Additionally, the Platinum and Wildtrak also get an ambient lighting system, a panoramic moonroof and a larger 12-inch digital instrument panel—as opposed to the eight-inch display on the Sport and Active trims.

Pleasantly, all SUVs get a 12-inch main display as standard, with audio distributed via an eight-speaker sound system. However, the top-spec Platinum gets a more premium 12-speaker setup from Bang and Olufsen.

For power and connectivity, USB-A and USB-C ports on the first and second rows. Three 12V power outlets are then found on the first and third rows, and the cargo area. Interestingly, there is also a charging port mounted by the windshield, but the Active doesn’t get that.

Powering the Everest Platinum is Ford’s 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, which makes 247hp and 600Nm of torque. The Wildtrak, Sport+, and Active are then equipped with a familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel, with 168hp and 405Nm on tap.

As mentioned, a 10-speed automatic transmission is standard across all variants, but the Platinum and Wildtrak get an electronic rear differential for added capability. With that, the pair also get exclusive Mud/Ruts and Sand drive modes to go along with the standard Normal, Eco, and Tow/Haul settings. Surprisingly, the Sport+ and Active variants get a special Slippery drive mode, which is not available on the upper variants.

Suspension and braking setups are then similar across the retooled lineup. Under the metal of each Everest lies a Double Wishbone front suspension system with coil springs and anti-roll bars. At the back, coil springs with Watt’s Links and anti-roll bars have been mounted. For stopping power, the front and rear disc brakes are ventilated.

Along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, each Everest variant has its own set of advanced driver-assistance features—including the base Active trim. An autonomous emergency braking system, pre-collision assistance, automatic high-beam function, and a forward collision warning system are equipped on all Everests, but the Active has limited cruise control features and a more basic lane-keeping aid.

Meanwhile, the other variants get adaptive cruise control, lane departure and keeping functions, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. Front and rear parking sensors and a seven-airbag setup are available across the lineup, but the Platinum, Wildtrak, and Sport+ also get a 360-degree camera system. The Active is saddled with just a rearview camera.

For added comfort, the Platinum variant offers heating and cooling seats for the front-row passengers and additional heating in the second-row bench seat. Along with the Wildtrak, the Platinum also has a power-folding function for its third-row seats.

How is the new Everest lineup looking so far? We will soon be embarking on a road trip with the new variants, so stay tuned for more information.
