I have noticed that a lot of players just memorize moves and nothing else. Seriously my opponent (black) is clearly worse at the game missing even basic tactics but I bet if I had accepted the gambit he would crush me due to memorising moves.
Honestly I think it is annoying that they win games like this. I know it's part of the game but still feels bad when lower rated players score an easy win against you.
