The new Street Fighter trailer gives fans their first explosive look at Ryu’s darker side. It also shows him battling Chun-Li as he appears to struggle with the Satsui no Hado.

The footage offers a closer look at several familiar fighters and their signature moves. However, Ryu’s apparent turn toward darkness stands out as one of its biggest reveals.

Ryu’s battle with the Satsui no Hado comes to the Street Fighter movie

Evil Ryu is a darker version of Ryu who has surrendered to the Satsui no Hado. The power, also known as the “Surge of Murderous Intent,” can push him toward rage and destruction. The new trailer appears to tease that transformation as Ryu fights Chun-Li. He also charges a purple fireball while talking about the “darkness growing” inside him.

Ryu’s connection to this power also separates him from Akuma. While Ryu tries to follow a strict warrior code, Akuma embraces the destructive force behind the Satsui no Hado. The trailer also shows Ryu and Ken fighting in a dark alley. Ken says he has spent years living in Ryu’s shadow and wants to win the World Warrior tournament.

M. Bison hosts the tournament, but he has a hidden plan involving its strongest fighters. Chun-Li later tells Ryu that Ken is in danger and urges him to help. E. Honda gets his own action sequence against Ryu in the familiar bath house setting. He uses his Sumo Headbutt and Hundred Hand Slap before Ryu sends him flying with a Tatsumaki.

Cody Rhodes also appears as Guile, who brings a sarcastic edge to the character. He shares a scene with Andrew Schulz’s Dan Hibiki. Roman Reigns appears as Akuma and uses the Satsui no Hado while facing Alexander Volkanovski’s Joe. The trailer also features Vega, Balrog, Cammy and several other fighters.

Street Fighter stars Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the film is set in 1993 and will hit theaters on October 16, 2026.
