This has probably been asked a million times before so sorry.
I’ve been playing chess for about a year now, and no matter what I can’t seem to get above 120 elo. I’ve been higher but that’s purely because I’ve fluked some wins.
I understand how to play and have played close to 400 games but I just can’t get to grips with what I’m doing wrong. Some games I get totally dominated and the opponent will take all my pieces whilst I capture one pawn.
Whats the best thing to do, just focus purely on openings or keep playing until I see improvement?
I’m currently at 113 elo. In the last game I played I got checked mated in 4 moves, surely that’s not normal but I don’t know what I done wrong. I’ve attached a screenshot of that game if anybody can tell me where I went wrong
