Durham Regional Police are looking for at least three suspects in an alleged armed robbery that injured a Facebook Marketplace seller at a meetup in Whitby.

Police said the incident happened Tuesday afternoon in the Taunton Rd. E.-Baldwin St. S. area, where the victim had arranged to meet a man to sell a watch.

The victim was allegedly pepper-sprayed and physically assaulted, with the suspects fleeing in a black SUV.

Police said the victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

Police described one suspect as a Black male around 6 feet tall, between 18 and 20 years old. He had braided hair and was wearing a black toque, blue medical mask, black tracksuit, yellow work gloves and grey running shoes.

Another suspect is described as male, about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 tall. He was wearing a black medical mask, beige sweatshirt, dark grey track pants, black shoes and black nitrile gloves.

Hamilton robbery suspects caught in the act: Cops

Two men accused of robbing two convenience stores in Hamilton earlier this week were allegedly caught red-handed, targeting a third business in the city while cops were patrolling the area.

Hamilton Police said on Monday at 10:36 p.m., a man walked into a convenience store in downtown Hamilton, indicating that he had a firearm.

He then allegedly robbed the business and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the next day, at around 12:50 a.m., two men entered a convenience store in the Crown Point neighbourhood and lingered for a period before allegedly robbing the store of cash and fleeing the area.

Investigators believed the robberies were linked and mobilized officers to patrol convenience stores in the area.

Police said that while conducting these patrols, officers stopped two people in the middle of robbing a convenience store in the Crown Point neighbourhood.

The two fled on foot, but were arrested by officers following a short pursuit.

Both men, aged 20 and 21, are facing robbery charges.

The 20-year-old has also been charged with six counts of failure to comply with a probation order.
