Taraji P. Henson’s latest Tyler Perry sequel is already dominating Netflix’s charts just days after its release. The comedy-drama reunites franchise favorites while also introducing new faces as relationship drama takes center stage.

Taraji P. Henson’s Why Did I Get Married Again? is topping Netflix streaming charts

Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? tops Netflix’s Top 10 movies chart in the United States, according to FlixPatrol data for Sept. 15, 2026. The film has held the No. 1 spot for six consecutive days since its Sept. 9 release. The comedy-drama also stars Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, and Richard T. Jones.

In the film, a young couple, Jasmine and Wesley, face disapproval from her stern father over their upcoming wedding. As a result, the couples around them begin to question their own marriages. Perry wrote and directed the movie, which runs one hour and 51 minutes.

Meanwhile, the sequel’s arrival has also driven interest in the franchise’s earlier installment. Why Did I Get Married Too? debuted at No. 10 on the Netflix Top 10 movies chart on the same day. The original Why Did I Get Married? premiered in 2007, and Why Did I Get Married Too? followed in 2010.

Additionally, the film marks the fifth collaboration between Perry and Henson. Their previous projects together include The Family That Preys, I Can Do Bad All by Myself, Acrimony, and Straw. Henson plays the character Roselyn, while Perry reprises his role as Terry.

Furthermore, the cast features newer faces alongside franchise veterans. Da’Vinchi, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Jaden Michael join the ensemble. The movie currently holds a 5.4 rating on IMDb based on 1,200 user ratings. It carries a PG-13 rating and streams exclusively on Netflix in the United States.
