You can always count on Apple to do nice little touches that aren’t really that big of a deal, but they enhance the user experience. The latest example is with the iPhone Duo, where, if you open or close the phone, the screen does a perspecive blur animation to signify to the user that the active screens are switching.

You know, the iPhone Duo isn’t the only Apple product that opens up to a display. Wouldn’t it be cool if the same effect could happen on the MacBook? Now it can! Dhananjay Bhosale created Mac Duo, a free app that creates a similar effect whenever you close your MacBook.

I installed Mac Duo and spent the past 10 minutes opening and closing my MacBook Pro’s lid just to watch the animation. It’s fun. It’s not useful–nothing wrong with that!

Mac Duo offers six different animations to suit your personality. If you install it, when you launch the app, you won’t be able to because the app is not notarized, so after you try to launch it you need to go into System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Security section, and click Open Anyway in the notification.
