Geely is expanding its lineup with a new plug-in hybrid compact SUV, the Monjaro EM-i. It arrives rivaling several popular hybrids in our market. Size-wise, it competes against the Hyundai Santa Fe, but price-wise, it can stack up against the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, or even the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i and Ford Territory Hybrid.
Unlike most modern cars, the Monjaro boasts clean, simple styling. A large crest grille adorns the front fascia, flanked by equally large headlights. Below are chunks of black plastics accentuated by subtle chrome trim.

At the rear, the Monjaro gets a large lightbar stretching the width of the liftgate, with trim on the bumper matching the ones up front. The Geely badge is spelled out and embossed underneath the taillight. There isn’t any wraparound body cladding underneath, but there are black plastics on the fender arches complementing the large two-tone alloy wheels.

The Monjaro is a midsize crossover, measuring 4,800mm long, 1,895mm wide, and 1,700mm tall. It rides on a 2,845mm wheelbase and 189mm of ground clearance. It gets heaps of space inside the cabin.
Speaking of which, the interior is clad in an abundance of leather with contrasting silver trim. The layout is straightforward, with just a large screen for the instrument cluster and an even bigger infotainment system—with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto—front and center on the dashboard. There’s a mountain design etched on the passenger side of the dash.

Under the hood, it packs a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with dual electric motors. In total, the system puts out 335hp and 667Nm of torque. It comes with a 29.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery capable of 78kW DC charging and 6.6kW AC charging. EV range is listed at 130km and combined range is 1,095km.
As mentioned, this is priced competitively enough to go up against compact crossovers. The all-new Geely Monjaro stickers for P1.868 million. It is also currently available with a P60,000 discount until December 31, 2026. For those who pre-ordered before the launch and placed a P5,000 reservation fee, they also get an additional P15,000 discount.
