There's something about November that I just love. I love the word itself; the word November comes from the Latin word novem, which means nine. So why is the 11th month of the year named 9? It's because in the ancient Roman calendar, the year began in spring with March instead of January. But around 713 BC, a Roman King added January and February to the beginning of the year, thus pushing November to the eleventh position. A little bit of history when no one asked for it! In the Old English Name for November, some called November Blōtmōnaþ, which meant a month of sacrifice for the preparations of winter. I guess there's something about the beginning movements into winter that make me excited, and also make me feel nostalgic.
Our childhoods are within us whether we want to realize it or not. Sometimes, everything in our lives subconsciously go back to our childhoods, and that's not a bad thing. And there's something bittersweet about growing up and realizing childhood is getting further and further away from you. The world which once felt enormous, enchanted, magical, and full of mysteries becomes flat, bland, or grey with adult lenses that blur the magic. But with cat memes it doesn't go away! With cat memes that kind of unexplored kingdom of majesty and magic is still there because cats are just as innocent as children. The first day of November is something to celebrate. The magic doesn't disappear, sometimes we just forget where to look for it.
