Bro exhausted his empire from so many conquests and attempted conquests. Sure he got Song taken care of and that was huge, and yeah he subjugated Goryeo.
But two failed invasions of Japan and like infinity failed invasion of Dai Viet cost him. Just like Louis XIV he overextended. He was incredibly successful, that’s undeniable, but all these wars led to lots of inflation and pointless loss of life (of course). Idk man, if I send tens of thousands of soldiers to invade an island nation and they get taken out by a storm, I’m calling it—that’s a bad omen. Tengri disapproves.
