It’s not just the facelifted City that’s been added to Honda Cars Philippines’ lineup—the new Civic with S+ Shift has also arrived in the market.

We’ve been expecting this updated compact sedan since it was launched in Thailand a few months back. It’s only the second Honda to feature the brand’s new S+ Shift transmission, which made its debut in the Prelude.

To the uninitiated, the S+ Shift is Honda’s innovative gearbox technology built specifically for its e:HEV models. Its goal is to maximize engagement from behind the wheel. It replicates the feel of a traditional stepped transmission through changes in engine speed. It is activated with the press of the S+ Shift button located on the center console and can be operated using the paddle shifters.

Like the City, the updated Civic gets no mechanical changes. Under its hood is a familiar 2.0-liter gasoline engine that produces 139hp and 182Nm of torque, paired with an electric motor that churns out 181hp and 315Nm.

Unlike its smaller subcompact sibling, however, this compact sedan gets no aesthetic changes, nor does it see any significant tweaks to its cabin. It packs the same interior as before, only with the addition of the aforementioned S+ Shift button to the center stack.

The new Honda Civic S+ Shift now sits at the top of the range and gets a P90,000 price bump from the standard RS e:HEV, bringing the SRP up to P2.08 million. Platinum White Pearl costs an additional P20,000, while the new Urban Gray Pearl and Blazing Red Pearl both cost P10,000 extra. Each purchase comes with the Honda Secure Plus five-year vehicle warranty, with the inclusion of an eight-year/160,000km hybrid battery warranty.
