We have a long way to go before we start seeing e-jeepneys take over the roads. That being said, we do have glimpses of what electrified public transport might look like.
Recently, Sarao and Tembo embarked on quite the journey with their electric jeepney. From Las Piñas, the Sarao x Tembo electric jeepney was driven all the way south to Albay in the Bicol Region. In total, the round trip totaled 760km.

The official post read: “The journey covered expressways, provincial roads, steep climbs, winding routes, rough surfaces, and changing traffic conditions—proving that the electric jeepney is ready to go beyond the city.”

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that the road conditions leading to Albay aren’t exactly the best. Having driven there back in 2025, we’re familiar with how treacherous the southern highways can be. The fact that this electric jeepney survived the trip and got out in one piece is worth applauding.

If you think about it, 760km is plenty for any vehicle, let alone for an EV. But for an electric jeepney to complete that feat? It’s all the more impressive. Who knows, maybe with the right push, we might be seeing the electrification of the hari ng kalsada in the future, after all.
