Murali Vijay’s career is a strange one. He scored nearly 4,000 Test runs, made 12 centuries and became one of India’s most reliable Test openers. But his career was constantly interrupted by poor form, competition and comebacks.
So I wanted to look back at how he went from an uncertain replacement to one of India’s best Test openers, and why his career ultimately faded away much earlier than it seemed it might.
