The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is heading into its final season with changes to its cast and storyline. Norman Reedus will return as Daryl Dixon for the concluding chapter, which will also introduce new faces to the series.

AMC+ has confirmed that the series will return with its concluding season in 2027, with Smits taking on the role of Captain Alejandro Perkins. The new addition to the cast was revealed alongside the first teaser for the upcoming season.
Smits will portray Perkins, a former U.S. Navy officer and medical doctor who has managed to survive the apocalypse by finding an unusual way to adapt to the changing world. The character is introduced in the teaser’s final moments, when he comes face-to-face with a battered Daryl Dixon. Perkins looks at Daryl and says, “Welcome home, son,” before the video cuts to black.
The teaser offers a short look at the dangerous setting awaiting Daryl and Carol in the final season. Daryl is first seen lying unconscious with cuts and bruises covering his face before the clip moves across the rocky landscape of Spain. A Walker soon appears and turns toward the camera, followed by scenes of people fleeing from a group of Walkers. The footage then returns to Daryl as he wakes up, leading to the introduction of Smits’ character.
Season 4 will continue Daryl and Carol’s journey through Spain as they attempt to find their way home and reunite with their loved ones. As they cross the ravaged badlands, the two characters face growing uncertainty about their future while continuing to hold on to hope and each other.
The final season will also star Romain Levi, Eduardo Noriega, Óscar Jaenada, Candela Saitta, and Hugo Arbués. AMC+ announced that the fourth season would be the show’s last during The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con in 2025.
