The first week of fall makes a nice walk sound appealing. You wear your light sweater, fix your hair and picture yourself enjoying a pleasant breeze. The image you pictured in your head is beautiful, then you step outside and have to remove strands from your lip gloss. Ahhhh, the wind. The lovely wind.
A hood seems like a reasonable solution until you take it off. Now the top is flat, the sides are doing something complicated and there's a bend where you remember having straight hair. You can try to rearrange it with your fingers, but that won't fix it. The damage is already done. It would have been helpful to include that part in the seasonal advertising.
Damp weather adds another possibility. You leave with one hairstyle and end up with curly sections, frizz, and the only solution at that point is to find a hair tie. There were several on your dresser. You saw that one in a bag yesterday. If you're lucky, there may even be one around your wrist, but nope. You don't have one now. A clip will do… if you can locate it beneath everything else you have in your bag.
The worst part of it is that your hair will probably settle into place later when you're home. When you're lying on your couch wearing an old T-shirt and nobody is around to appreciate how well your hair finally turned out today.
