Girls will be back for 5 episodes. Are we all dancing to Dancing on My Own by Robyn already?

I'm already wondering how all the characters' lives turned out. I have my theories, though. I suppose Elijah is married to a really handsome and successful, artsy man; Shosh has to be the CEO of a really cool company; Jessa can either be a niche celebrity or be unexpectedly married to someone like Elon Musk, like Grimes; Marnie can be either a wedding planner or a mildly successful singer; and Hannah… I don't know about Hannah- a writer, maybe? With a young child.

I know Lena Dunham shared her predictions in a 2025 interview, and it's different from mine, but we don't know if that's where she is actually going to take the characters, so we can still have fun making our bets.

I'm excited to have a weekly episode to watch with friends. I was doing that with Euphoria; every Sunday we got together at a friend's house to watch the latest episode, and when the season ended, we didn't know how to move on with our lives, lol. Now it feels like we have a purpose again.

Are the Girls becoming exactly the characters their younger selves mocked? Or are they becoming what they've always dreamed of being? Maybe something in the middle, or something completely unrelated. I wish this comeback turns out nothing like the SATC one, because that was terrible and I totally wish it hadn't happened.

I suppose the difference between those two shows is that SATC was always aspirational and Girls was purposely the opposite. It was more about how less glamorous our young lives were than the fantasies we used to have. In a way, Girls celebrated unglamorousness and made us all romanticise our sketchy lives.

Girls doesn't need everything to work out to reconcile its characters; it can make that very struggle the subject of its comedy. Part of the reason we love the show is that every character is flawed in a very specific and relatable way. They don't have to mature perfectly and become these perfect creatures; the show would stop being interesting. It's okay for them to be even more sophisticatedly flawed at forty; we expect them to be.

Also, I'm kinda counting on the show to be politically incorrect and awkward; we especially need that in times like these when everything seems so uptight, and everyone is so beautiful and hot. There is a difference between a character being politically incorrect and a show endorsing their behaviour; we're allowed to hate Hannah. It's just refreshing to see a more realistic character on screen.

Anyway, I hope every character becomes even more narcissistic and selfish through time so I can have a good laugh. The only character I have no idea about how he might've turned out is Adam; I never really understood him to begin with. Have you got any ideas? Will he be a successful Broadway actor? A movie star?
