Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the OKC Thunder will host Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets at 8:30 p.m. CT Thursday.

OKC began the season with a 116-104 road win over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday. This is the first game of the season for Denver, which was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season.

Thunder vs Nuggets predictions, picks

Justin Martinez: OKC 122, Denver 114

Nikola Jokic is always a handful for opposing defenses. But OKC just held Victor Wembanyama to 1-for-13 shooting from the field thanks in large part to its trio of 7-footers — Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and Aday Mara — and should be able to make life difficult for Jokic as well. And with Peyton Watson now gone, Denver has even less options when it comes to defending Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Give me the Thunder at home.
