President Bola Tinubu has urged young Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and turn out for the 2027 general elections, insisting the contest is about their future rather than his personal ambition.

Addressing the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, the President said the outcome of the election would shape the lives of the next generation.“To the youth of Nigeria, I’m looking at you. This election is about you. It’s not about me. Your future depends on this election,” Tinubu declared.

He described the PVC as a powerful tool for deciding the country’s leadership and pleaded with those yet to collect theirs to do so without delay.“It is left for you to use the weapon you have. And that weapon is the PVC. If you have not collected yours, please go ahead and collect it. Please. I beg you. I take God beg you,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted economic progress under his administration, noting that unpaid pensions and gratuities left by previous governments running into billions and trillions of naira were being cleared so that families could share in national prosperity. He cited retired engineers, welders and teachers already receiving their entitlements as evidence of the government’s commitment.

The rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium was organised by the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party alliance led by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. The group, which includes members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, has endorsed Tinubu for a second term and fielded preferred candidates for other elective positions in Rivers State.

Tinubu’s appearance continues his early campaign engagements ahead of the January 2027 presidential election, which he formally launched in Kaduna on 24 October.
