The Oyo State Police Command has brokered a peace deal between the widow and father of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, who had been feuding over where the singer should be buried.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command said the parties signed a peace undertaking at its headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan. The command said it received information about the disagreement on October 28, after which the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, directed that everyone involved be invited.
Those who signed included the singer’s wife, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, his father, Muniru Olayemi, and some of his friends and associates. Toluwanisings died in Ibadan on October 14, 2026, and the burial row has since drawn wide attention on social media.
The father had reportedly proposed that the singer be buried at the house he built or beside his late mother in Osun State. His wife was said to have opposed burial at their home.
Under the agreement, the parties pledged to keep the peace and stop public exchanges, interviews and discussions about the matter on social media, radio, blogs and other platforms. They also agreed not to use proxies, agents or associates to circulate allegations or publications that could revive the dispute.
The police said the parties were invited “to prevent further escalation”. The command warned that “anyone whose actions constitute an offence under applicable laws would be arrested and prosecuted.”
The police urged all concerned to honour the agreement and allow the matter to be resolved through lawful and peaceful means. No date or location for the burial had been announced at the time of the report.
