Two men are facing charges after an Ontario Provincial Police investigation uncovered an online illicit drug trafficking operation on the dark web.

The investigation — led by Caledon OPP ‘s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and assisted by OPP investigators in Dufferin, Kawartha Lakes, Orillia, Northumberland and Peterborough — commenced earlier this year when detectives became aware of an online drug marketplace that police say was responsible for shipping large amounts of illicit drugs.

The investigation took a turn when officers arrested a suspect at a Canada Post outlet in Mississauga and seized a pair of packages containing illegal drugs that were ready to be shipped to addresses across Canada.

That prompted search warrants being executed at a number of residences and vehicles both inside and outside the Greater Toronto Area.
