VisionQuest’s latest sinister Easter egg has MCU fans more intrigued than ever. Created by Terry Matalas, the Disney+ series is a spin-off of the 2021 miniseries WandaVision and continues Vision’s storyline. It follows the synthezoid as he attempts to understand his identity by communicating with AI personas embedded in his programming.

This new easter egg comes from @MarvelLATAM on X. The account shared a tweet that featured a message in binary code, with the hashtag #VisionQuest. The code translates to the message, “Ultron has control.” The tweet inevitably hints at a potentially ominous twist in the coming episodes of the series.

The message hints that Ultron has officially taken control of Vision’s body after the terrifying cliffhanger in episode 4 of the spin-off that left MCU fans reeling. The episode ended with Vision willingly surrendering control to a long-hidden backup of Ultron during a brutal showdown with Jocasta.

Ultron’s possible return raises bigger questions about VisionQuest

Ultron’s return in Episode 4 of VisionQuest suggests that the dangerous artificial intelligence has escaped his mental prison inside White Vision and taken physical control of Vision’s body. This poses a catastrophic threat to humanity, echoing his earlier attempt to wipe out life on Earth in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Vision’s synthetic body was originally built by Ultron using vibranium and the Mind Stone as the ultimate vessel for his evolution in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Rather than being completely destroyed in Sokovia, a fragment of Ultron’s source code survived and was preserved within Vision, leaving him locked away as a hidden fifth AI persona inside the virtual mindscape known as the “mansion.”

Since Ultron previously concluded that humanity poses the greatest threat to global peace, his potential return in a powerful synthezoid body like White Vision could reignite an existential threat on a massive scale. Ultimately, Ultron’s possible return raises bigger questions about the direction of VisionQuest.

VisionQuest is currently streaming on Disney+.
