VisionQuest watchers believe they've spotted another major MCU character in the new show's first episode.
Paul Bettany reappeared as The Vision when his standalone Disney+ series premiered its first two episodes earlier this week. Although familiar Tony Stark-created AI bots like Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Edith (Emily Hampshire), and even Ultron (James Spader) are already keeping the hero company within his troubled mind, some fans believe VisionQuest has snuck in another big name from the WandaVision trilogy.
Warning! Potential spoilers for VisionQuest follow.
That character is none other than Wanda and Vision's magic-wielding son, Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wiccan. Played by Heartstopper actor Joe Locke in the 2024 Marvel show Agatha All Along, eagle-eyed viewers believe the character made his first appearance in the closing moments of the Vision show's first episode. If it really is him and it slipped by you, don't beat yourself up too hard; this is more of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter Egg than an outright reveal.
After VisionQuest sets up White Vision's struggle with his identity, the first episode spends some time introducing another new face for a character we've already met. Wanda and Vision's other child, Tommy, seems to be alive after possessing the body of another human being (played by Ruaridh Mollica). Instead of materializing just outside of Westview like his brother, Billy, though, Tommy is living life in London as a pickpocket.
If fan suspicions are to be believed, Billy is well aware of his brother's location. After Tommy pulls off a small heist toward the end of Episode 1, one person with a familiar haircut can be seen walking amongst the crowd. Then, when Tommy meets up with his accomplice, Lisa (Lauren Morais), later down the road, that same person can be seen again, but this time, they're in a completely different position.
Could it be an extra out of place or a minor continuity error, or is it actually our first look at Wiccan's return as the WandaVision trilogy comes to an end? That's what fans are trying to figure out, but considering the MCU is known for tucking away the occasional visual Easter Egg and trick, many viewers wouldn't be surprised if this is our first hint at a family reunion.
The streets are saying Billy is following Tommy around… Oh, WandaVision-level delusions. WE ARE SO BACK! #VisionQuest https://t.co/BkdKXGHC2r

Wiccan's return is something fans have expected in the weeks leading up to VisionQuest's premiere. Aside from the fact that the show, which happens to be the last before Avengers: Doomsday marks the beginning of the end of the Multiverse Saga this December, offers an opportunity to reunite a powerful Marvel family, one recent trailer may also have contained another hint at Wiccan's return. The most damning evidence of his role in the show, however, is the fact that Mollica kind of let it slip that he and Locke had filmed some scenes together during an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"It was amazing," Tommy's actor said of working with Locke on VisionQuest. "We actually shot our MCU stuff before we did the play [Clarkston], which was amazing. We met for a coffee beforehand to get to know each other, and we were just so excited. We became such good friends instantly, and then we did a play on the West End together and had this big secret that slowly started to leak as we were doing it."
Well, it all seems to be out there now, but we'll have to wait to see if the mysterious figure shown in Episode 1 really was Wiccan undercover. Until then, VisionQuest episodes will continue to roll out weekly. We'll get two episodes every week until the penultimate episode arrives November 3. The finale, Episode 8: "Forever," will then drop November 10.
