Ruaridh Mollica has spoken about Tommy Maximoff’s sexuality ahead of his debut as the adult version of the character in VisionQuest. Tommy is bisexual in Marvel Comics, but it has yet to be confirmed whether the upcoming MCU series will address his sexuality. Mollica has now shared his thoughts on how that part of Tommy’s identity could be handled on screen.

Tommy is confirmed as bisexual in Marvel Comics, but Mollica stopped short of confirming that the upcoming Disney+ series will directly acknowledge that part of his identity.
Speaking to SFX Magazine, Mollica was asked whether Tommy’s sexuality would be explicitly referenced in VisionQuest. The actor admitted that he does not know if the subject will be directly addressed. At the same time, he hopes his own experience as a bisexual actor will influence his portrayal of Tommy.
“I don’t know if it’s explicitly referenced, but I feel like myself as a bisexual actor embodying Tommy, hopefully that comes through in just personality and self and is something that can be explored in the future,” Mollica said.

The comments do not confirm that VisionQuest will establish Tommy as bisexual on screen. Tommy is the son of Wanda Maximoff and Vision and was introduced as one of Wanda’s twin children. The character’s storyline took another turn in Agatha All Along, when Tommy’s soul was placed into a new body. He is now known as Thomas Shepherd, with Mollica taking on the role for VisionQuest.
The series will continue the story surrounding Vision and his family as Marvel’s Westview storyline moves into its third chapter. The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026.
