A WestJet aircraft collided with a catering truck at Toronto Pearson International Airport as it was being towed from its gate on Tuesday evening.
The winglet of the Boeing 737 “made contact with a parked catering truck while being towed to an overnight parking pad” at Pearson, the airline confirmed in a statement to the Toronto Sun.
Flight WS2221 from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, had already arrived and passengers and crew members had deplaned prior to the crash.
There were no passengers or flight crew aboard the plane, and no injuries were reported, WestJet added, and “there was no intention of flight” at the time of the incident, the Transport Safety Board of Canada (TSB) added in a statement.
A spokesperson for the federal agency said it is “gathering information” but “are not deploying investigators.”
Pearson declined to comment or provide further details on the collision but noted there was “no impact to operations.”
Video shared widely on social media showed multiple emergency vehicles responding to Terminal 3 at around 8:30 p.m.
