Colorado State is 2-0 and has scored nearly 100 points in eight quarters.

Jim Mora was happy after CSU's 58-24 win over Southern Utah on Sept. 12, but already looking for growth.

"I think there's just so much more out there for us," Mora said. "We have a ton of improvement we can make and we will make."

"I thought it was another step in the right direction. I thought we were explosive on offense. Unfortunately, they were explosive on offense as well, so there's some disappointment there but things we can correct. We will correct. Positives on defense are we held them to three points in the second half. We had the four takeaways again. Those are things we can build on. But I was not happy with the way they split our defense a couple times for big gainers. When you have a good staff, which we do defensively, and you have players that are willing, you can get that fixed. It's going to have to get fixed quick because BYU is a really good football team. "

Jim Mora on the offense

"Big plays are great, we love big plays. I also like sustained drives and I think we could have done a little better job there. Like I said, I'm happy we won, it was a good win. But I think there's just so much more out there for us. We have a ton of improvement we can make and we will make."

Jim Mora on QB Hauss Hejny

"Probably the most important thing is he's a good decision maker. He's doing a nice job with the ball ... The best quarterbacks are great decision makers. That's the number one attribute you're looking for in a quarterback is taking care of the football, make good decisions with the football, get the ball to the playmakers, don't force it into coverage and he's done a nice job of that.

Jim Mora on Hauss Hejny's playmaking ability

"It's fun to watch. That run down the sidelines was a heck of a run ... (Offensive coordinator Pryce Tracy) said 'hey, hand it off, don't do anything silly.' As he took off running, we're all yelling 'slide, slide, slide,' and then it's like, 'no, just go, go, go.' So I just like his attitude of attack, attack, attack. I've said this before, he's conscientiously aggressive. He's very conscious without being reckless, but he's aggressive as hell."

Jim Mora on the defense forcing turnovers but aiming to improve

"It's a confidence, being in the right place at the right time and playing with discipline. It's forcing pressure on a quarterback. It's getting a lead on offense so they have to do some things maybe they didn't want to gameplan-wise. But, once again, the best defenses are consistent. They don't give up very many big plays, so that's where I'm looking for us to improve and I'm confident that we will."

Jim Mora on in-game adversity response by CSU

"It's good and you know what? I don't like it when it's happening. My stomach gets in knots. But once we get through it, I think it's fantastic for us. I think it builds character and mental toughness and confidence. So, when I'm standing there on the sideline I want to vomit and I don't like it a lot. But afterwards and we come out the other side I see the type of character that's being built, then I like it.

Jim Mora on what allows the team to respond well

"Steady, confident, trustworthy, trusting ... Just putting them in chaotic situations in practice, forcing them into stressful situations in practice so that they're used to it when the game happens. That's how you get better. Practice soft and play hard. You can't practice in a calm environment and expect to go out there and play in an environment like that. And so we're never gonna let that happen."

Jim Mora on Jackson Harper

"I've known him for a long time, recruited him. He's just a solid kid. He's a trustworthy kid, he makes the decisions on the football field. He's sure-handed. I've love watching his confidence grow and then his production go with that confidence. It's fun when you recruit a kid and then you see him start to blossom. And he's doing that and I'm happy for him."

Jim Mora on Mel Brown

"I've seen it. Luckily, I've coached this kid and he's like a joystick. His stop and start, he's unbelievable. And he's playing through an injury, not an injury, he's playing through some pain in his knee, some swelling in his knee. Otherwise, he's scoring on those plays. I've seen him take it to the house a lot of times. His ability to stop and start, and his vision, he's pretty rare. And he's just a humble, hardworking young man."

Jim Mora on CSU's receivers blocking on long plays

"It's mandatory, it's absolutely mandatory. What happens is that guys really start to take pride in it. And so yousee, we talked about this after the game last week, RJ (Vick) caught three touchdown passes last week. His downfield blocking was superior. Same with Terrence (Smith) tonight, just, they take pride in it. And then we feed off of it. And everyone wants to get involved with it, because we celebrate it. It's not something that we just look past. When you watch after a big gainer like that, people are going to the ball carrier, but an equal number of people are going to the guys that are down field blocking. And that's just being a selfless teammate."
