I tend to stay away from modern books, and new releases. I often find them disappointing and flat. I’m sure there are some good ones but I don’t really seek them out. But I picked up this on a whim because honestly I was drawn to the cover art and I heard it was a family drama of sorts. Thought I’d give it a go.
Oh my god if this wasn’t the most beautiful story on reconciliation and family and lost time and love and connection. Going back into the past and making up for lost time. Heartbreak and moving on. Thinking about the what could have beens. I absolutely adored this book so much. In just 300 pages the characters felt so convincingly real, so flawed yet so lovable, and just so human. Everything about this book was human. I haven’t read something so heartfelt and warming and tender in a very long time.
I love this planet and I love literature and I love books.
