There'll be some added interest in officiating when No. 10 Oklahoma travels to face No. 24 Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 12, after the Wolverinesdefeated Western Michigan in Week 1 in controversial fashion.

Michigan took down the Broncos 13-12 after Bryce Underwood threw a game-winning 47-yard Hail Mary touchdown to JJ Buchanan as time expired, breaking a scoreless streak that lasted from the opening possession to the last play of the game. Officials added one second to the clock before the game-winning touchdown, which is now the result of an appeal from the MAC and Western Michigan, who have asked the Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee to reverse the outcome of the game, which would result in a WMU win.

Big Ten officials worked Michigan-Western Michigan, which was played in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There won't be Big Ten officials when the Wolverines host the Sooners, though.

Oklahoma defeated Michigan 24-13 last season in Norman, Oklahoma, and dominated the Wolverines' offense for most of the game. The Sooners are looking to end the home-and-home series with a 2-0 mark against the team up north.

Officiating crew for Michigan-Oklahoma football

There will be an SEC officiating crew for Michigan-Oklahoma in Week 2 after a Big Ten crew officiated last season's game between the two blue bloods, according to open records request obtained by Sooners on SI.

The game contract between Michigan and Oklahoma was signed in 2014, and it agreed for the two schools to swap officiating crews based on which team is hosting the game.

"The officials, including replay officials and the replay system to be utilized, for the game on September 6, 2025, shall be appointed by the athletics conference of which the University of Michigan is a member, and the officials, including replay officials, and the replay system to be utilized, for the game on September 12, 2026, shall be appointed by the athletics conference of which the University of Oklahoma is a member," the game contract read, per Sooners on SI.
