Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Cassius Mailula has revealed why he at KV Kortrijk.
The 25-year-old forward went to Belgium on loan from Toronto FC but struggled for gametime.
Speaking to Andile Ncube on Metro FM, the Downs forward revealed what happened in Belgium.
“From my perspective, I think it’s a matter of a club having a plan around you,” said Mailula on Metro FM.
“It’s about knowing when they want you, how are they going to use you because they know my qualities before I come to the club.
“For me it’s about that also if you use me, use me to my strength. That’s it, the rest, you can never doubt the talent.
“It was just the matter of getting that opportunity and for me to grab it.”
Mailula disappointed after poor showing in EuropeHaving showed promiise at Wydad, Mailula failed at KV Kortrijk and was sent back Toronto.
“Yeah, of course [I was sad], every player wants to do well,” Mailula added.
“When you are in an environment where this is what you’ve always wanted, you want to show the world that and give the club that brought you there something.”
Since rejoining Sundowns, Mailula has been one of their best players. He scored three times so far this season since his return to Chloorp.
His form has seen him return to the Bafana Bafana in three years. He was recalled by new coach Pitso Mosimane ahead of the 2027 AFCON qualifies.
