I've always been a big fan of the look of maritime-inspired buildings but it seems rare in modern architecture.
Apart from curved forms most buildings don't seem to borrow much from maritime design. Is that because these ideas aren't very practical, or simply because the style is difficult to adapt to modern construction?
The picture is of the Maritime Hotel in NYC. I wish there were more buildings with porthole windows!
