Messi won two Ligue 1 titles and a French Super Cup at PSG, yet his time there is often labelled a failure because he didn’t win the Champions League.

Ronaldo won two Serie A titles with Juventus but also failed to deliver the Champions League, which was arguably the club’s biggest ambition when signing him.

Personally, I think Ronaldo underachieved at Juventus too. He wasn’t brought in just to win domestic trophies; he was brought in to help them win the Champions League.

So why is Messi’s PSG spell judged so harshly while Ronaldo’s Juventus career generally gets a pass? Is there a genuine difference in expectations, or is it just double standards?
