Pakistan have moved away from their usual green kits for the fourth match of the ongoing ODI Tri-series to mark a special occasion on a day all of Gaddafi Stadium will turn pink. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has organised Breast Cancer Awareness Day as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
October is internationally observed as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This Pink Day fixture between Pakistan and England serves as a medium to highlight the importance of early detection and adequate treatment. The PCB has partnered with Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Trust Hospital, which is offering fans free of cost screenings between October 24 to 26.
All Pakistan players will wear specially designed pink jerseys in this game, while England team members, match officials, and commentators will don pink ribbons in solidarity with survivors and patients. Apart from clothing, the stumps used for this game are also pink, and the big screens and LED boards will display awareness messages throughout the day.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board recognises the responsibility that comes with the immense following and influence of cricket in our country,” said the PCB COO Sumair Ahmad Syed. “Through this Pink Ribbon initiative, we want to use the platform of international cricket to raise awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection and timely medical attention.”
Under this initiative, the PCB also introduced pink-themed limited edition merchandise which fans can buy through their online portal to show their support for the cause. Proceeds from this will go towards the treatment of those who cannot afford it. Last year, Pakistan had observed Pink Day during the T20I series against South Africa.

As for the match, Pakistan will look to seal their place in the final with a third consecutive win. England, on the other hand, are in as good as a must-win situation, having lost two out of two games.
England lost by 87 runs in the previous clash between these two teams, and were at the receiving end of the second highest run-chase in ODI history, despite Harry Brook recording the fastest double century.
