Nobody should offer anyone money that isn't theirs. If you have money, you can do whatever you want with it, even if it isn't technically "wise." But anybody who takes money out of your pocket, says they're going to pay you back, and doesn't do that is a horrible friend. It doesn't matter how noble the cause was.
