Wynonna Judd was caught off guard when she learned what Rosie O’Donnell had been saying about her political beliefs.

The country music icon is pushing back after O'Donnell publicly described her as a supporter of President Donald Trump.

"I’m in shock, just so you know," Judd told People. "I’ve never spoken to her about politics in my life. … She doesn’t know anything about my stuff. I’m an independent.

"I don’t know where it came [from]. It’s complete assumption," she said. "I heard it and I went, ‘What the …?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming.’

"I’m not angry," she added, describing herself as confused by O’Donnell’s comments.

But Judd said there was never a political conversation for O’Donnell to draw that conclusion from.

And she isn't interested in turning the misunderstanding into a celebrity political battle.

"I just don’t want drama," Judd said. "So, if there’s going to be drama [about it], I’m like, ‘Oh for crap’s sake, there’s so much going on right now in the world. Can we just love each other?’"

Fox News Digital has reached out to O’Donnell for comment.

Judd's comments come after O’Donnell discussed their friendship during an August appearance on "The Tangle with Kyle Ridley" podcast.

O’Donnell said Judd was the one Trump supporter in her life she still maintained a friendship with, explaining that their bond had allowed them to put politics aside.

"I am friends with Wynonna Judd, who I love very much, and I’ve known her for many, many years. And she is a supporter of Trump. And somehow, we never bring it up," O’Donnell said.

O’Donnell went on to describe why she believed she could separate Judd’s alleged political views from their personal relationship.

"I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life, with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing. And I really love her, and I care about her. And, for some reason, I’m able to put that aside when we interact."

Her relationship with O’Donnell stretches back decades. Judd was a recurring guest on O’Donnell’s daytime talk show in the 1990s, and the pair have remained friends long after the program ended.
