Ghost of Yotei is inviting players back to its expansive world with the Echoes of Sekigahara paid DLC, out now on PS5. If you're wondering how to start the DLC, you're right to do so, as there's a short checklist of things you must do before the first DLC mission becomes available.
Here's how to start the Ghost of Yotei DLC.
The Ghost of Yotei Echoes of Sekigahara questline opens up once you're roughly 10 hours into the main story. Your actual time spent playing may be much higher if you go off the golden path early and often, but luckily there's a simpler way to know when the DLC becomes available: You'll first need to complete four specific missions. We've listed those below.
- The Old Inn
- The Way of Dual Katana
- The Tale of the Oni
- The Kitsune's Fate
Once you've completed those four quests, you'll next want to speak with Kojiro, the bounty broker, to add bounty quests to your to-do list.
If you're returning to the game after beating it some time ago, or you've at least done these things, the DLC begins when you interact with a bounty board. Specifically, you're looking for a bounty for Nagato the Handsome. Add that showdown to your quest log, and you'll be on the path of the expansion's storyline.
The story-driven expansion is one of several new additions to Ghost of Yotei, including a new roguelite mode called Most Wanted and a free update for all players that adds a screensaver-style mode, new accessibility options, and transmogrification--using one gear item's stats but another's aesthetic. The story DLC and new mode are part of the $70 Complete Edition for new players, or players can unlock them for $15 if they already own Ghost of Yotei.
In GameSpot's Ghost of Yotei review, Richard Wakeling had high praise, saying, "Ghost of Yotei builds and improves upon its predecessor with a gripping story, rewarding exploration, and fantastic combat, with each aspect emphasizing the characteristics of a new protagonist. As a sequel, familiarity is baked in, but every alteration is in service of Atsu and her profound differences, making for a game that manages to feel distinct even when what you’re doing is so recognizable."
